Loving Father, we thank you for the many gifts and blessings bestowed upon us. We thank you most of all for your Son Jesus, who leads us on the path of fullness of life, freedom and love. As we rejoice in His glory and remember the gifts of His Heart, draw us closer to His love and bring all humankind into His kingdom of justice, peace and love.
Day 1
LOVE THAT IT TOTAL AND UNCONDITIONAL
O Loving heart of Jesus, I consecrate my life to you – my person, words, deeds, joys and pains so that my whole being is for your honour, love and glory. Give me the grace to make you the object of my love, the guardian of my life, the assurance of my salvation, the remedy of my weaknesses and inconsistency, and the sure refuge of my death. May my love for you and others be more and more unconditional.
Day 2
LOVE THAT IS SENSITIVE AND REPONSIVE
O Heart of Jesus, I offer you these humble prayers for me and for all those who unite themselves with me in Spirit to adore you. Help me to renew and to offer to you acts of adoration. Open my eyes and ears so that I become more sensitive to those in need and respond to them lovingly. I recommend to you, Lord, the Holy Church, your Spouse and our Mother and especially pray for unity among the various churches.
Day 3
LOVE THAT IS UNIVERSAL, EMBRACING ALL
O my Jesus, you never refuse your love to anyone. How can I refuse to give you my love? Everything I have is yours. Teach me to forget my selfish interests so as to be more available for your service. Teach me to love as you love. O loving heart of Jesus, inflame this heart with your love.
Day 4
LOVE THAT IS PERSEVERING, ENDURING TO THE END
Lord Jesus Christ, you showed us the depth of your love for us by your death on the cross. Yes Lord, truly your love ‘bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things’. May our love towards others be persevering, enduring especially in times of trouble and pain.
Day 5
LOVE THAT UNITES AND BINDS TOGETHER IN COMMUNITY
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, you revealed to St Margaret Mary your desire to rule over Christian families. Behold, we stand before you this day to proclaim your full sovereignty over our family. Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful but also of those who have gone away from you. May your love bind us together in community with cords that cannot be broken.
Day 6
LOVE THAT IS ACTIVE, PRACTICAL AND EFFICACIOUS
My God, I cast all my cares upon you. I want to persevere in my trust in you to the last moment of my life. No one who has placed his faith in you has been ashamed. I know my faith cannot exceed your generosity. So help my little faith, Lord. Strengthen it in the difficult moments of life.
Day 7
LOVE THAT IS PATIENT AND FORGIVING
Most loving heart of Jesus, King of love and goodness, I wish everything of mine to be yours - my freedom, my memory, my understanding, my will. Give me your love and your grace Lord so that I express my life in little acts of self-denial and loving service in my daily tasks. I desire to spend my life in collaborating for the spread of your kingdom in my own small way.
Day 8
LOVE THAT REACHES OUT TO THE POOR AND NEEDY
Lord Jesus Christ, in union with the immaculate heart of Mary, we gather today in your name. Be with us always, Lord, as the centre of our life. Watch over your people. Sanctify our joys, comfort us in our sufferings. May we truly be your disciples by reaching out to those in sorrow and need. Keep us one in love and make our hearts like yours, open to others and willing to forgive.
Day 9
LOVE THAT BRINGS PEACE AND JOY
Lord Jesus, our friend and Saviour, look upon us as we place our life in your hands. In times of trial and sorrow help us to draw courage and hope from your cross and resurrection. Bless all our endeavours and efforts. Fill our life with peace and joy that comes from your love.
God, our Father, we glory in the Heart of Jesus, your beloved Son, as we call to mind the great things His love has done for us. May our devotion to His Heart open our hearts to the struggles and sufferings of people around us. Give us His sensitivity of heart and mind. Unite us so intimately with Him, that we may love Him and each other with the same love. We ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
