Blessing Of The Family In The Home At Easter.

All: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Head: Almighty God and Loving Father of us all, together as a family, we ask you to bless our home so that all our actions, conversations and attitudes towards one another may always be inspired by you and that our home may be protected from all kinds of danger and evil. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Head: A Reading from the Gospel according to St.John (20: 19-22)

All: Glory be to you O Lord!

Head: On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he has said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit."
This is the Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God

Your response will be : LORD BLESS OUR HOME AND OUR FAMILY.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all the blessings you have given us during the past year. We look up to you for protection and care in the days to come. R/-

Lord, often we have hurt each other in this home by our thoughtlessness and selfishness. We ask for your grace so that we may be a little more concerned about the good of all present here. R/-

Lord, be our comfort in our sadness, heal us when we are hurt and be by our side when we feel lonely and rejected. R/-

Lord, with the power of the Holy Spirit, you filled the house where the disciples were gathered; send the same Spirit upon us with the gifts of peace and joy. R/-

Let us now reject all selfishness & every kind of sin and, as a family, follow Jesus as our Light and our Life. We shall say one 'Our Father', one 'Hail Mary' and 'Glory Be'.

The Head now sprinkles Holy Water on the Altar, on all present & all over the house. S/he now blesses each family member with the Sign of the Cross on the forehead.

The service ends with an appropriate hymn. (‘I have decided to follow Jesus’ or ‘Shower of blessings’)
