HYMN: O give thanks to the Lord or I will sing of the mercies of the Lord
LEADER: This evening, (name of bride) & (name of the groom) will be pronounced husband and wife in Church and we will all have our share of fun in the celebration. As (name of bride) leaves her home, let us surrender her to God and thank and praise Him for all that she has been to us and invite His blessings and strength on her. Let us now listen to the words of Scripture.
SCRIPTURE READING: from the book of Ruth 1: 16-17
Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”
The word of the Lord
LEADER: Let us bless (name of bride). Today as she leaves this home with mixed feelings – of sadness as she says goodbye to her family and of joy as she will marry (name of the groom) whom she loves, let us all pray to God to be with her and (name of the groom) as they begin new life together. Our response is: Lord, bless and protect them
LEADER: And now let us sum up all our prayers as we raise our right hands towards (name of bride) and pray the prayer that Our Lord Jesus himself taught us…Our Father…
